All that comes to my mind is the song called Slime By Frank Zappa:
I am gross and perverted Im obsessed n deranged I have existed for years But very little had changed I am the tool of the government And industry too For I am destined to rule And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious But you can't look away I make you think Im delicious With the stuff that I say I am the best you can get Have you guessed me yet? I am the slime oozin out From your tv set
THANK YOU! Jesus chirist (forgive me)Thank you! This is all any media does anymore and thier fear tactics actually make it harder to take anything even catastorphic seriously and some people are even cynical about any kind of news true or blown out of proportion.
Boy I've felt that before. Wild imagery, and it's all topped with a cute little demented smily-head. And are the twinkles in the sky supposed to be crosses?
It's funny, I read a Newsweek article just yesterday about fear's use in politics. One of the major points it made was that yes, fear is a good political tool, but TOO much fear without showing a light at the end of the tunnel can end you. Also found it interesting that fear is basically an aid to survival; if one caveman doesn't fear what's rustling in the bushes, and another just goes for it, who do you think survives to evolve?

Very nicely done. Good concept. The fact that the media turns tradgedies into stories so they can make money, and just the fact that theres never anything "good" in the news as in like... friendly, not harming, etc. Again, nice work.
It also reminds me of something out of Invader Zim ^_^
Wonderfully freakish piece you have here. Seems like nowadays, the news media is turning into an entertainment industry. Of course, whoever said they were paid to tell the truth?
Your piece has unfortunately inspired me to go on a bit of a rant.
If a media outlet tells you that it's fair and balanced, it's complete and total batshit. Here's why:
As we all know, mainstream news media outlets are owned by large corporations: FOX News by FOX Entertainment, CNN by Time Warner, MSNBC by NBC and Microsoft, etc. Because the economy operates on capitalistic principles, these corporations are competing against each other in the marketplace.
Now, since media outlets rely on a number of news sources, they're gonna want to keep up a good reputation with them. If they say unfavorable things about their sources (which will inevitably happen if the media is telling any shred of the truth), then they'll lose access. Of course, that leads to less viewers, which means there's less profit to be made.
Long story short: the truthful outlets get marginalized and pushed out of view, while the blatantly dishonest ones continue to be aired on TV. All because of natural selection in the marketplace.
Sorry about that. Just had to get it out.
May you forever remain unhaunted by dreams of Ted Turner in a Speedo.
